Set in Chicago during Prohibition when jazz music was everywhere, "Some Like It Hot" draws comparisons to another award winning Broadway musical, Chicago. Jazz elements fill the entire show as the main characters, Joe and Jerry, are struggling musicians trying to survive on speakeasy shows. Their lives face an unexpected twist when they witness a gangster committing a crime in their mob-controlled speakeasy and need to disguise themselves as female musicians to protect their identities from the mob.
Joe takes on the persona of Josephine, while Jerry disguises himself as Daphne and the two join an all-female swing band. The band's singer Sugar Kane becomes a challenging part of their story as the two men hope to earn her affection without getting caught.
