Synopsis

Set in the vibrant backdrop of 1899 Paris as the 20th century dawns, Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows a young English poet named Christian. He is captivated by Satine, a cabaret actress and courtesan, who is the dazzling star of the famous Moulin Rouge club, known as the place “where all your dreams come true”. As the show unfolds, Christian enters the cabaret club with kindred bohemians: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Santiago the Argentinean. Simultaneously, the musical introduces the Duke of Monroth, a man driven by wealth.

Moulin Rouge is a romantic tale centered on two forbidden lovers. While Satine falls passionately in love with young Christian, she has been promised to the Duke by the club manager in return for financing the next cabaret performance. As the young lovers meet in secret, the dancer’s wedding day draws nearer and nearer. However, Satine is concealing a secret from both Christian and the Duke.

Similar to the 2001 movie, Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s soundtrack merges original songs with popular smash hits, including tracks that have surfaced over the 22 years since the initial movie release.
