Ever since its inception more than 40 years ago, Les Misérables, or Les Mis, has risen up from a short-lived musical sung in French found in Paris to one of the most highly-awarded and fan favorite shows in the eyes of local and international audiences. Over the last 40 years that the play has been ongoing, the show has toured in 22 different languages, in 53 countries, and has been watched by over 130 million people worldwide.
In January, the musical’s next season is expected to perform in a new location in Greensboro, where Les Mis will be performed in Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday 10th January 2026. Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts was purposefully created and constructed as the unrivaled theater venue of Greensboro, housing a spacious arrangement inside the theater that is big enough to hold a musical of this standard, as well as suitable amenities that can be found in the theater.
The musical is centered on the life of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict desperately seeking redemption after breaks free from parole. Jean Valjean's entire story, presented through two emotional acts, are staged sung-through entirely from the start to the final act of the musical. Les Mis being sung from start to finish is a clever manner of execution that this play has over other known theater productions, and is the main reason why each individual song performance never fails in its objective of conveying utmost feeling in every phrase or lyric performed.
The musical is creatively executed and due to this manner, Les Misérables is also full of impressive song numbers. Interestingly, despite the large number of tunes that can be witnessed in Les Mis, each role in Les Misérables is able to be highlighted, with each discrete performance given as much emotional depth as the rest. Not one single person who has attended Les Mis can fail to recall Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which conveys with it a deep tragedy and has been performed countlessly by acclaimed performers in contemporary television. “Bring Him Home” also emotionally moves viewers to tears all the time, unveiling the selfless heart of Jean Valjean’s character in just one absolutely magnificent performance.
The globally-acclaimed musical will only be showing in Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, Greensboro for a limited period and on Saturday 10th January 2026; seats are currently up for grabs via our ticketing partner by clicking the links that can be found on top of this page.
